My autobiography

To many, I am known as Jamar Curry, or just Curry. I was born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey. In my youth I attended and played basketball at one of the most dominant High Schools in the country at this time, Saint Anthony’s High School in Jersey City. Here is where I played for one of the top high school coaches in the country, Bobby Hurley Sr. During my time playing basketball, I had acquired enough skill, determination, and perseverance to receive a full basketball scholarship to the University of Oregon where I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Science. My basketball career did not end in Oregon. I had a try-out with the 76ers and played professional basketball in Portugal, Denmark, South America, Bogota, and Switzerland. I travel all over the world, but my greatest accomplishment was having my daughter Braelynn born March 2nd.I started an official basketball fundamental skills camp and Podcast called, “The Foul Line.” Even though I had a gracious career in basketball, I came back to wanting to help the youth and younger generations. I have been in education since 2004. I started my journey at Create Charter School in Jersey City. I am currently employed by Jersey City Community Charter School where I work as a paraprofessional for Mathematics full-time. I have decided through my experience and dedication, and with the support of those around me that I wanted to go back to school. I am a Mathematics Elementary major and my goal is to graduate with a second degree in Elementary Mathematics to obtain my certification to be a full time Math Educator.
my support system in life that has always been and always be a catalyse of all my endeavors is my Curry/Burgess family. From speaking with strength, confidence, having a firm handshake and always looking a person in his or here eyes is very important to understanding what you're truly up against in life. My mother and father set the ground rules at home, like chores, cleaning up after yourself, make sure your hygienes is always correct, pay attention to your surroundings it will say your life oneday, dont take education for granted because its a two-way street, what you know and dont know can get you killed or hurt in the real world. My parents was firm believers in what dont kill you will definitely make you stronger. As a blackman in society I've experience a multitude of test that has made me stronger based off racial encounters. To be honest i didnt choose this class but my academic advisor made the best suggestion by even mentioning this literacy course. I'M Just happy to be alive
